Birth Records

records research

Birth records are a valuable research tool for family historians. They typically are held in county courhouses but some state historical society libraries have them in their archives. Births list baby's name, date of birth, sex, where bom, parent's names including mother's maiden name, along with parent's ages, birthplace and occupation. An online index is available at www.mnhs.org/search/people. The available records begin in 1900 and end in 1934.
